The vigango which are a symbolic representation of the spirits of the Mijikenda religious leaders -‘Gohu' were stolen over 100 years ago by foreign treasure hunters during the colonial era. Their return is part of a restitution programme launched by the national museums of Kenya to ensure the country's lost treasures are returned home and handed back to their rightful owners.
