Nigeria: Bronzes from the Kingdom of Benin

Several thousand plaques and sculptures that decorated the royal palace of the Kingdom of Benin (present-day Edo State). They were looted from Benin City by British soldiers in 1897 and are now scattered in museums and private collections worldwide.
